    • Student Support

Student progress is continuously monitored at Oakville. Support is provided when areas of weakness in literacy and maths are identified. Relevant staff are available to provide support to students experiencing difficulties in the classroom.

This support may be delivered in the form of a trained specialist teacher (STLA), teacher’s aide or parent tutor. Support is delivered in several forms; in class small group programs, withdrawal from the classroom for concentrated work or individually tailored programs, which may be delivered, within the classroom or as a home program.

Students who require support may be referred by their class teacher, parent or from external sources such as speech or vision consultants. If required, the School Counsellor is available for consultation.

Programs which are provided for identified students deliver explicit, sequential development of relevant skills, tailored to meet students needs.
