Welcome to Stage One!

We are the students and teachers of Stage 1 at Oakville Public School. These are some of the topics we will be learning about this year:

Term 1 – Our Families

We will explore the many groups that have different roles in our lives, including family groups, special interest groups and community groups. We will better understand others by understanding what is similar and unique about our families and groups to which we belong.

Term 2 – Powering On

We will explore the relationship between force and movement in the arts, science and physical activities. We will learn that every push or pull by one object has an effect on another object.

Term 3 – Getting Along

We will learn about developing a network of people whom we can trust and who help to keep us safe. We will also learn about making wise choices in our lives based on our needs, values and beliefs. We will develop an understanding of the roles, rights and responsibilities of all community members.

Term 4 – Our Stories

We will better understand that cultural activities, objects, songs, dances and stories express beliefs, values and have a connection to place and people.
